No hay paraíso en la tierra.

Sus maravillas, inmensas
son hostiles
y en lucha con ellas gastamos
fuerza, fe
y voluntad.

Sí, hay paz y éxtasis.

Provienen
sin embargo
del temporal
—crisis de las condiciones pactadas—
destructor más creador
de los mundos
manjares precarios
grandezas efímeras
deletéreas, funestas
de la tierra.

There is no heaven on earth.

Its marvels, immense,
are hostile
and our fight against them costs us
strength, faith,
and will.

Sure, there are peace and ecstasy.

They originate
nevertheless
from the tempest
—a crisis of terms and conditions—
most creative destroyer
of the worlds
precarious feasts
fleeting grandeur
injurious, funereal ones
of the earth.

Entre álamos plateados
frente al sauce
el árbol de las paltas
es un monstruo
desordenado
sus hojas groseras
y algo rojas
– grosellas–
ellas resisten el viento
como un gigante montado
en una percha endeble
–espantapájaros
en el que viven los pájaros–
catapulta sus frutos cremosos
que revientan en mi deseo
de escapar a este mundo.

El carancho despliega
sus alas inmensas
y caoba
¿ha asesinado a los gorriones?
mueren al costado
de las ligustrinas
sus restos desparramados
perfuman
el poblado de los humanos.

Among silver poplars
facing the willow
the avocado tree
is a monster
disheveled
its leaves rough
and somewhat red
- redcurrants -
they resist the wind
like a giant mounted
on a flimsy stake
- a scarecrow
where crows make their home -
it catapults its creamy fruit
that burst with my desire
to escape this world.

The caracara unfolds
its immense mahogany
wings—
has it murdered the sparrows?
they die alongside
the hedges
their scattered remains
make fragrant
the human settlement.

Ausencia de gorrión, la tuya
pequeña sombra que
a cierta hora del día
se agiganta y confunde
la resolana.

Es el aire y es el viento.

En este área suburbana
hay tesoros naturales
que la ciudad no tolera
y aquí, abrillantan
la puesta de las luces.

La conciencia es la misma
y luego del encandilamiento
el viento que siento
–que reviento–
trae el mismo aroma húmedo
del cemento
con el mismo insecto

pero más grande
más oscuro
más nutrido
mejor alimentado.

A sparrow’s absence, yours is
a tiny shadow that
at some point during the day
grows gigantic and bewilders
the glare.

It’s the air, and it’s the wind.

In these suburbs
there are natural treasures
that the city can’t tolerate
and here, they brighten
the setting lights.

The awareness is the same
and then the incandescence
the wind I sense
—I blaze—
carries the same wet fragrance
of cement
with the same insect

only bigger
and darker
better nourished
better fed.

Refleja lo peor del cemento
su sequedad porosa
asfixiante
cubierta por la baba
del mundo que lo azota
como una marea diaria.

Los plásticos, los propilenos
circulan como arbustos sueltos
se van untando
de pólenes y heces
pertenecen
a tantas especies
tan pocas
las que quedan
y las que se cultivan
se encajan en los engranajes y aun
se quedan aplastadas

encarnan el cemento
lo meten en la entraña y queda
palpitante
pegajoso, caliente, calcáreo
y todo color termina
en lo terroso de la mierda
con la que crecen mejor
estos árboles.

It reflects the worst of the cement,
its leaky dryness
asphyxiating
covered by the slobber
of the world that bashes it
like a daily tide.

Plastics, propylenes
roll along like tumbleweed
being anointed
by pollen and feces
they belong
to so many species
so few
that remain
and are cultivated
they fit into gears and still
end up crushed

they embody the cement
they stuff it inside them and it remains
throbbing
sticky, hot, chalky
and all the colors end
in the earthiness of shit
which grows these trees
better.

Crecidos los árboles
parece
que saludan al cielo
los álamos plateados
como plumas o penes
oscilan excitados
por el viento
su costado de plata
parece que nos enriquece
sin tocarnos.

Cómo podría
si llega tan alto
tan alocado.

El sauce, sin embargo
con su llanto
alarga sus guirnaldas
cabellera enrulada
llega al suelo
y es el que nos abraza
nos acaricia
su enredo de amor
no miente
nos toca de verdad
toca la tierra.

The trees grown
it seems
they’re greeting the sky
the silver poplars
like pens or penises
sway aroused
the wind
its silver side
seems to make us rich
without touch

How could they,
if they grow so tall
so reckless.

The willow, nevertheless,
in its weeping
extends its garlands
its curly mane
sweeps the ground
it is the one to embrace us
to caress us
its tangle of love
can’t lie
it truly touches us
touches earth.
