Call for Submissions: Pacific Northwest Afrofuturism


Propeller Books would like to publish a book-length work of Pacific Northwest Afrofuturist fiction, and will be accepting submissions of projects in this genre through March 15, 2023.

Writers may interpret “Pacific Northwest Afrofuturist fiction” however they see fit.

Submissions should be sent to afrofuturismpnw@propellerbooks.com. Ideal submissions would include the following:

  • A brief biography/introduction of yourself as a writer.

  • A description of your project.

  • A writing sample of 5 to 20 pages. This writing sample may be from the project you are proposing or from something else.

There is no submission fee. Propeller offers authors a generous royalty rate on profits.

Propeller is not currently seeking submissions in other genres and will be unable to respond to submissions that are not Pacific Northwest Afrofuturist fiction.

Propeller Books is an independent press in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to its publishing projects, the press operates a retail bookstore with a focus on Pacific Northwest writers and topics in the Urbanite building in Portland, Oregon.
